Every year on International Women's Day (and sometimes on other days, too), groups of women gather to share posters they've made about women who inspire them, or who have been written out of his-story, or who just plain kick ass. "The CDC is a private correctional facility that protects the public through the secure management, discipline, and rehabilitation of California's advertising." And that's about all we could get out of these secretive folks, who communicate only by anonymous email and speak mainly in riddles. The Art of Fernando Castro Pacheco
One of Mexico's most celebrated artists, Fernando Castro Pacheco is most famous for the "moveable" murals of the Governor's Palace in Mérida, Yucatán. In these murals, he represents Mayan resistance to the conquest and their repression by Spanish colonizers. Even when he chooses more simple scenes, his use of blotches of color and varied textures creates a unique visual aesthetic. |
